What is Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)?

DEF is 32.5% solution of high-purity urea in water that is used with the Selective Catalytic Reduction system (SCR) to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx).  It is a non-fuel nor is it a fuel additive.  It should only be used in a DEF dedicated tank. 

How much DEF do I need?

How do I store DEF?

DEF can be stored in temperatures between 10 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit.  In warm temperature regions it is recommended to store DEF in shaded areas. In cold temperature regions it is recommended to store DEF in a storage unit.

Is DEF harmful?
